Resurrection

1 Corinthians 15:20-22 English Standard Version (ESV)

20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.

Resurrection, what a powerful word, and one that can be hard to imagine or understand.  We tend to think of it in terms of the after-life and how wonderful for us to know there is more, but I think resurrection is more than that.  We can experience it right here on earth.  When we let the old ways, the old ideas, the things that are holding us back from “holy perfection” die away, we can be resurrected to a newness of life, right here, right now.  We can be made new in Christ, through Christ.   Let us be made new.

Resurrected Lord,
We often cling to the old ideas, the old ways.  We often have a hard time moving forward, we are comfortable where we are.  Help us to let go of what holds us back so that we can be made new in you.  Amen.
