Getting or Giving

Luke 12:29-30 The Message (MSG)

29-30 “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works.

Getting vs. Giving – As a society lately, we worry an awful lot about getting.  Getting the latest gadget, or new car.  We worry about wearing the latest fashion.  We worry about having all the good things in life, the convenient things in life for ourselves.  But maybe we should focus more on what we can do for our neighbor instead.  What does our neighbor need?  How can we help them?  How can we make their life a little easier?  God will take care of us.  He knows our every need and he will provide so we needn’t worry so much about ourselves. Instead let’s focus on those in need, those less fortunate than us and perhaps try to let God provide for others through us.

Lord,
We are your servants. Put us to good work in our world helping all those in need.  Amen.
If you find this devotion to be a blessing, please share it with a friend.
